Three projects below. Each is a system with decisions in it, and each has at least one decision I would make differently now.
Paper forms, irrigation technicians, and a disk that filled up
Founding engineer on a workflow platform: API, schema, mobile and web clients. And the outage that taught me to instrument before guessing.
Motion capture, and the layer where a device meets a phone
Six and a half years on real-time motion capture. In 2025 we rebuilt our Bluetooth layer from scratch in Java, against the native Android API, after the plugin we depended on was abandoned.

A life-tracking app for people with ADHD, built around one constraint: nothing about you leaves your own devices unless you switch it on.

Contract work
I am at TuringSense part-time. That is a plain fact about my week rather than a sales pitch: it means there is real capacity, now, without waiting on anyone’s hiring cycle.
The work I can take on is a backend and the product sitting on it, a device that has to talk to a phone reliably, or a system that has started failing in ways nobody has had time to instrument. Not design work, and not anything needing deep native Swift.
